OMEGA 3s AND MENTAL HEALTH…..

There’s another good research article out on omega 3 supplements which I find very interesting. I’ve always known they’re good for the mind but this suggests it may help turn around those thoughts of suicide and mental darkness, or depression.

Omegas 3s are something I stopped buying in pill form quite some time ago. They’re very expensive and the quality is often questionable. Instead, I buy a HEMP protien powder which is rich in Omega 6 and Omega 3s along with a long list of 10 essential amino acids. It’s also an excellent source of protein and fiber. I throw it in my morning smoothie along with my other protein powder. It’s far less expensive than buying supplements in capsule form.

The article states that :

 

The majority of the research focuses on heart health, but an increasing number of studies have reported benefits for mood, behavior and mental function.

Interest in omega-3s and their relationship to brain health is growing rapidly. In fact, the U.S. Army is studying the effects of omega-3 status on suicide rates of troops and service personnel (Journal of Clinical Psychiatry, doi:10.4088/JCP.11m06879), and how omega-3 supplementation may improve mental health and stress resilience.
